Propel a sentient bubble through a deadly facility by firing pieces of its own body.
Project Overview
Bob-L is a physics puzzle game created by a four-person team for Mini Jam 84: Bubbles.
The player controls a sentient bubble trapped inside a mysterious facility filled with traps, hazards and environmental obstacles.
Bob-L cannot move conventionally. Instead, the player fires pieces of the bubble’s body to generate recoil and propel it through the environment.
Bob-L transforms one resource—bubble size—into movement, ammunition and survival.
Holding the mouse button charges a shot and determines how much of Bob-L’s body will be fired. Larger shots provide stronger propulsion but consume more size.
This creates a constant trade-off between reaching the next safe position and retaining enough size to survive the remaining facility.

Avoid traps and reach the facility exit before running out of size.
Every movement decision carries a cost because propelling Bob-L physically reduces the player.

Determines the size of the fired bubble and strength of the recoil.
Launches Bob-L in the opposite direction of the shot.
Bubble vents restore size and allow the player to continue navigating.
My work focused on building the facility’s hazards and using them to create a complete level-design progression around Bob-L’s movement.
Created alongside Minde, Charley and James.
The team completed Bob-L under an extremely tight deadline, submitting the final build less than twelve minutes before the jam closed.
The unusual movement required careful tuning so charged shots felt understandable while retaining the unpredictability of physics-based propulsion.
Designing the facility also required balancing trap timing, visibility and difficulty around a character that could only move indirectly.
Additional interface elements, including the minimap, added further complexity during the limited development period.

Bob-L became a cohesive team project built around a focused and unusual movement mechanic.
I am especially proud of the level design and how the facility’s traps, routes and environmental progression interact with the bubble resource.
The finished result was strengthened by each team member’s contribution across programming, rendering, modelling, sound and design.
